Car rental deposit in Georgia: how much and how to get it back

Most car rentals in Georgia require a refundable deposit between 200 and 500 GEL, held on your card and released within 3–14 days after return.

How the deposit works

When you pick up the car, the rental company places a hold on your credit or debit card. The car is inspected on return, and the hold is released if there is no new damage.

Typical amounts

• Economy cars: 200–300 GEL
• SUVs and crossovers: 300–500 GEL
• Premium vehicles: 500+ GEL

How to get it back faster

Return the car clean, with the same fuel level, and ask for the inspection to happen while you are present. Keep the signed return checklist until the hold is released.
